Rt. Rev. Mitred Archpriest Roman Star PDF Print E-mail

MANY YEARS & CONGRATULATIONS to Father Roman, the Spiritual Advisor of the COCC, for being raised to the dignity of wearing a miter. On May 11th, at the Bright Saturday Hierarchal celebration at Three Saints (Three Hierarchs) Church in Garfield, New Jersey, Fr. Roman received this prestigious award. This is the highest rank that a married Orthodox priest can attain. Normally, only Bishops and Archimandrites can wear a miter, except for the very few priests who receive this award. We are very proud of our Pastor at St. Innocent that he has been honored in this way by the Russian Orthodox Church. Patriarch Kirill granted the award on the recommendation of Archbishop Justinian. Fr. Roman works so hard to serve Christ and His Holy Orthodox Church, it is nice that he is being recognized in this way for all his constant self-sacrificing and exceptionally dedicated work. No matter how much one strives for humility and seeks to avoid praise, every person appreciates being appreciated for their hard work. Fr. Roman has totally given himself and his life to serving God and His Holy Church, and has made such a difference in the lives of so many people, locally and nationally: as Pastor at St. Innocent for al most 30 years; throughout the Metro-Detroit Orthodox community; as Dean of the Central States Deanery; and member of the Bishop’s Council. Because he avoids ‘blowing his own horn,’ few people know even a fraction of what he does and the good he has accomplished. May the Lord continue to preserve and protect Father Roman and grant to him the good health, strength, vitality, perseverance, plus dedication to serving God above all else with wisdom, love and faith, so that he may continue serving Him in His vineyard for MANY, MANY YEARS!"

by Frederica Mathewes-Green
