"Free Pantry" in Detroit needs your help

DETROIT, MI [COCC] -- The parish of Sts. Peter & Paul Cathedral in Southwest Detroit, in cooperation with Detroit Orthodox Outreach (ODO), have installed a free pantry outside their community center for the benefit of their neighbors in need.

The pantry is designed to hold anything from canned goods, to hygiene items, to socks, gloves, and scarves.  The neighbors have been making great use of this pantry, which needs to be restocked sometimes several times per day.  THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN....

We need your help to keep this free pantry stocked.

Please contribute self-stable ready-to-eat food (pop-top cans when available; nothing that requires cooking except simple microwave).

POP-top cans needed...
Fruit
NON-condensed soup
Beef stew
Chili
Baked beans or pork & beans
Spaghetti
Ravioli
Beefaroni
Tuna
Canned chicken
Spam
Vienna sausages

Other items needed...
Small jars of peanut butter
Ramen noodles
Microwave mac & cheese (not boxed mix)
Microwave shelf stable meals – like Hormel Compleat meals
Individually wrapped
Crackers & cheese or peanut butter
Granola bars
Individually wrapped toilet paper

Hygiene items...
Toothbrushes/toothpaste
Razors
Soap
Washcloths
Shampoo/conditioner
Deodorant
Feminine hygiene products
Wipes
Diapers
Small Kleenex (travel size)

Please...
NO pasta
NO rice
NO unusual food
NO boxed cereal
NO glass jars

Let's make an effort together to keep this pantry stocked!

Please feel free to come by (click here for directions) and load some items into the pantry, or come to the weekly ODO community meal on any Sunday afternoon between 1 and 3 and drop off these items.  If you are unable to bring food, we invite you to CLICK HERE to make a secure, tax-deductible contribution that will allow us purchase items for the pantry.  Either way, your help is greatly appreciated!
